Because the photos won't upload on the classified site:

Linebacker is a very unique Chiangus bull that has the phenotype that everyone is looking for.  Linebacker’s calving ease with real world beef power combined with the maternal strength of the Cardinal program makes him a bull for your consideration.  High % Chi.  Free of all genetic defects.  We think he'll work well on Heat Wave, Monopoly and other Clubby heifers.

CARD Linebacker 56C 2CA (Chi #380752)

DOB:  03-01-2015
16.63% Chi    THF/PHAF

I guess 97.5% is "high chi" by the association. I stand corrected but anything over 6.25% is enough to compete in the Jr Nationals, and in the Jr show world, that's considered "high chi".

Where did the original "Chi" cattle get into the mix? When is the last time anybody used a fullblood Chianina to create a show calf? I have never seen anything in the showring that remotely resembles this...

Fullblood Chianina were really common as sires of show steers in the later 70's and early 80's.  Mainly they were used to add frame to the "belt buckle" cattle that were common in the 50's and 60's.  I know a certain crazy Steerplanet member who just put some ampules of fullblood chi in a cow this spring... <cowboy>

Cowboy_nyk it's only crazy if it doesn't turn out well!
I used an amp of a mid 70's fullblood imported Chi bull named Ivory Lillo on a real well producing stout Angus X Shorthorn cow. If it turns out well it could be worth using more of the chi amps to produce what I hope are hardworking cows in our commercial herd.

I've heard you need fences like Jurassic Park to keep those fullblood cattle in, best of luck and keep us posted!

From my experience they make some like that in every breed!

i saw probably a 2-300 ildeno x amerifax or crossed on something black and soggy back in the day.  when he clicked, they were smooth, uniformly shaped front to back, top to bottom.  when they didn't, they could be pencil gutted, too much cannon, knob jointed etc.  to me, all this show steer stuff is about the cows so much and the bulls not so much.

if i had a few newer style soggy cows, i would use ildeno again.  saw him in person a lot.  a very spectacular bull. he was notoriously very mean.  he did love to be scratched, but only from the other side of a very tall stout fence.

as far as attitude goes, i only found two to be annoying. one, a steer jumped on top of me while attached to a donkey and i was feeding him, and the other, a fullblood cow i had to beat off of me and another guy with a 2x4 when we were weighing, measuring her calf. i never used a donkey again or tried to break a calf with hair that was wavy again.  everyone i saw were hard doing and had an attitude that required too much time.

At 16.6% Chi, when compared to the clubby and other hot sires of the day, yes, he's high enough % Chi to raise calves eligible to show as Reg. Chianina or Chiangus.  Here's and example:

Hi Ho Silver - 4.06% Chi
MAB - 3.44% Chi
Monopoly Money - 3.45% Chi
No Apologies - 4.4% Chi
Troubadour - 3.9% Chi
Smokin Bob - 3.45% Chi
Solid Gold - 6.89% Chi
Maternally Yours - % Maine
Monopoly - 6.89% Chi
Monopoly Money - 3.45% Chi
Huff N Puff - 0% Chi
Freaknique - unregistered
Uno Mas - 1.22% Chi

Is e a Melroe Farms product? Does JSC Chiangus have semen available on his sire if a person wanted to keep the % Chi higher? Thanks.

He's a product of Cardinal Cattle Company's "The Program Sale".  His sire, bred by Schaefer Chiangus was sold to Clifford Farms of Indiana.  Have not seen any semen available on him.

Bullbarn.com carries semen on him. He's 26.9% Chi. Schaefer's also will sell semen directly and are very happy with the calves out of JSC Mr. Linebacker 807Z.
