Eye Candy Bull

Hi, I was wondering what y'all thought of the bull eye candy as far as how he improves on structure and depth of body as well as any other thoughts you might have on him.. thank in advance

I have been very happy.  Best calves in my group this year.  Increased bone and debth of body.  Appear to be easy feeding cattle, and no structre probelms to mention.  No calving issues either is a plus and very hairy.  definately will use again.

Outstanding in every regard.  His calves walk like cats and are super hairy.  I got a look at him at Trausches and very impressive.

Yep, look at the fall sales, he has been putting up strong #s.  Everything has been super hairy and stout.

One word sums it up on him....consistent...I've seen, sold and purchased all kinds of them and they are super dependable kinda cattle

ditto all the above, hes a great sire! he sires consistent show cattle they walk good, big square hips, and i seen eye candy once not up realy close but from where i was i could tell he had a massive top and tons of muscle!      a quick ? for everyone whos used him, does he clean up a trashy neck?

I am very pleased with the Eye Candy steer I purchased.  It is super stout, very clean fronted,  and as sound as they come.  The hair is awesome.  While looking for a spring born steer this past weekend I got a chance to look at some fall born calves.  The ones out of Eye Candy looked great.  I will be buying another Eye Candy steer this spring.

How does he make them off there back leg? I Have a cow that could use some more set in her rear leg and flex in her hock. Will eye candy help her with this?

Yes I think he should fix that problem.  I can't say he would clean up the necks but i don't think he would hurt a neck either.

I have honestly not heard anything bad from him, which concerns and excites me.

I don't want to steal anyone's post, but I have a few questions.... This June/July we are going to AI a heifer and two cows for the first time.  For the 75% simmy heifer I am breeding her to either Bismarck/Brilliance/ or Northern Improvement.  The Angus/Simmental cow I am breeding to Grandmaster. But I also have a simmental cow (she has a little angus in her) that I am looking at AI'ing. She is one of our largest framed cow.  She is also one that has the biggest bone.  She is a more of terminal based cow.  The only things that she lacks are depth of body and lowering the flank.... I want to AI her to a clubby bull because I think the calves would be great!  But I am worried about her having trouble.  As a heifer she had a calf over 100 pounds and we couldn't get it out in time.  The second calf she had came out backwards and had one leg sticking out (I doin't think this was the cow or bull's fault) but the heifer calf came out fine with just contracted tendons that we had to put splints on, but she is fine now... She will have her third calf this spring.  I want to breed her to Eye Candy, would you say this is too much of a risk? The AI'ed calf would be her 4th calf... I would think that it would be ok but I have no idea. I'm hoping her third calf comes out with no trouble.  What are your thoughts??

I love Eye Candy cattle. Have seen lots of them at Gillespie Show Cattle here in Montana, and i used him on my Who Made Who cow... best heifer i ever raised, i'll try to get a picture up here....

We had 3 last year and have 8 on the ground this year.  We'll breed him heavy again this year.  He makes great heifers and bulls, throws a bit of white on their bellies.  One thing that doesn't get mentioned alot is that he is easy calving in our experience, I don't think I would ever use him on heifers, but definitely on 2nd calvers.  Of our 8 this year, we only touched 1 and it was a hand pull.  He seems to work on all types of cows in our herd with most of them being high % Angus cows and purebreds.

The Gillespie's are great people!! Bought some cattle from them a few years back
