Eye Candy Heifer - OR IS IT?
« on: April 12, 2010, 03:23:47 PM »

Came home yesterday to  this Eye Candy heifer out of a Wonder cow - thank God she had him about five days early.  First saw her and thought I had a really stout bull calf.

I checked my breeding records tonight because I remembered something weird about A.I. with this cow last summer.  Sure enough, this cow was bred twice in quick sequence, because she was in standing heat (or at least sure behaved so) only 9 days after being bred - to Point Taken.  I  A.I.ed her again to Eye Candy, and she showed no signs of heat again.

The Point Taken birth date calculated to 4-6-10, and the Eye Candy to  4-15-10.  She calved on 4-11-10, and the calf was huge.

Can anybody give an educated guess - Point Taken or Eye Candy?

She sure is stout and hairy.  I'll post some updated pictures in a week or so.

One of the calmest calves I've every had.

I would guess that was a Point Taken calf which came a little late.

I would guess Point Taken. Second heat might have been a false heat. Just my guess

You could always get her DNA'd, but I'd say since it was late, the point taken.

I would say Point Taken. We had two out of him this year that were 5 and 6 days late. Our heifer is wide like that.

Probably Point Taken and just ran over a bit.  I have had them cycle when bred before.  Either way,  I really like the calf's stoutness and base width.
