Hi, I've been feeding a yearling angus heifer for show. Currently I'm giving her 10 pounds or so of purina beef mash with some soybean mixed in for the extra protein. I want to put some more cover on her, and I was just curious as to how to go about doing it. I was thinking of mixing either cracked corn or some barley in with it, but I'm not sure which one will give me the best results. Any suggestions?

They will actually give you slighty different types of cover.  The corn will give you a softer fat cover while the barley gives a firmer type of cover.  I don't know what %  protien is in your ration but you might decrease the protien and slowly move up on your corn ration ration.  Without seeing how your heifer is made its hard to tell you how to feed her ie. is she hard made or a softer easy feeding kind of heifer? I have our show heifers on 40% corn right now..
