Anyone have any experience with fertagyl? This is the first year we have used it and had a group of cows that none came in. Had them check and all were good no cyst or anything All 5 yr olds.  We usually use cysterelin but on advice from or ai tech used the other. Not real impressed with as we miss 20 cows.

haven't heard of it yet.

based on anecdotal evidence from one user, it sounds like unfertigirl.

maybe there is a dose issue.

seems odd that a retail product would be a 100% failure.

not sure what issue might be. looks like a trade name option.

Please explain how you are using it. I use it two ways, as the initial shot when inserting cidrs for different protocols and also use it at times along with insemination. I have used it for several years and never had an issue with it.

Something else has to be going on in this situation because even if the drug was bad theoretically 2/3s of the cows should have been in a place within their cycle so that it would make no difference. The GnRH is used to reset all of the females starting point. Were the cows 60 to 70 days post calving?

All were 60 days past 2 were from our recip group that we missed getting to the embryologist to have implanted and had come in to heat 18 days prior. All have since been started and came into heat and now just waiting to confirm pregnancy. I have since talked to a few friends that have used the drug and have had mixed results. Nothing like what we had but have not had what they call successful. Don’t know what the deal was. I have asked our helpers to double remember if they left the bottle out or what idk. It was a very strange deal.

It's the only gnrh form we've used in 20+ years here. Over the long-run I'd say we're right at the average AI conception of mid 60% between the dairy and beef cattle we set up.

We switched to Fertagyl this year based on our ET vet recommendations.  He said no difference in his results between the 2 products.  Calving will tell.
