Alright, so this year I am in the National Western Stock Show Catch-a-Calf program... We got Hereford steers this year. I havn't had a chance to go weigh him, but I have used weight tapes and they put him around 1300 lbs. he is starting to get fat on his tail head, but his ribs still don't have a lot on them. I've been giving him the max amount of powerfuel and a ranch way grower mix. The show is on Jamuary 10th.. Does anyone have ideas on how to get enough fat on him by then? I thought about increasing his grain, but I don't necessarily want him a whole lot heavier. Thank you :)

Work him up to 2lbs/day of stabilized rice bran. Seems to work for a lot of people. It's a horse supplement found at various feed/supply locations

A rumen bypass fat would also be helpful in adding cover. But it really needs to be fed at least 30 days. Longer is better.

I found some stabilized flax seed meal last summer that I like even better than stabilized rice bran.  It runs about the same percentage fat.
