Adorable! What a face.

I have two that I sat up with til 4 am last night. NOTHING. They must have had stage fright. They are both overdue. One 5 days the other 3.

I have just started calving ... now have six, all ET and all considerably overdue. All the embryos were implanted the same day and they were due on Jan 28th. 4 of the 6 were 7 days over. Last 2 were 11 days over. The last calf born was today, and it is a Durham Red bull calf  ( Red Fine Line Mulberry X one of our Melba 67J donor). WOW what a calf! Tremendously thick, long as a wet week during calving, and solid red- no white anywhere. This is my first Durham Red calf and I am super impressed!

I hope the remainder of the calves don't all go over due this much. I am just starting to calf and I am already tired of walking to the barn. One well, it could be worse, only 196 to go!

Four days late and a heifer.  Usually going late in the Angus breed means bullcalf!

Thanks for the comments!  :) She does have very big ears! And yes, I took a chance with both Double Vision and her mother being carriers, and luckily everything turned out fine. I've been going outside at 3am for a week checking on this cow, I am glad that she finally had her...although I have 3 more due in the next 3 days...

We've got 5 on the ground now and all but 1 were early. Right now they're all coming 5-10 days early for some reason. We have one cow right now that looks ready to pop and she's 4 days overdue. Hopefully once the heifers are done we can get back on a more consistent schedule.

Is that the Final Solutions that you're waiting on? If so, I'd think about a shot. Ours were plenty big last year. Nice, but big

Goal today: get pictures of my Hardcore calf! Too icy over weekened w/ meltdown. It was surprising that we had 27 last night. Wanted our warmer weather but not the mud!

Our two shorthorn calves came exactly on their due dates. Do you think that going past the due dates is dependent on the breed? Could it have anything to do with your weather being so cold? Our Maine X is due the 13th. Last year she had a monster calf that died before it was born. This time bred her to our bull that has been really successful with calving ease. Hope we don't have any Friday the 13th disasters!
