In six days, I have to go to my first cattle show. I have no idea what to expect.I have never been to one, either. I have been having a few problems with sinking that in. First, i have no idea what to wear. My mom bought my new boots which I LOVE. She also go me new jeans (Miss Me's) that are too long and too wide. keep in mind that i have to wear 00 size in regular jeans. I can't decide wether to just wear the big jeans with my boots or my normal skinny jeans tucked in to them. I read that you should never wear tucked jeans to shows. which should I wear? what type of shirt do I wear with it?
Also, will somebody tell you where to go? I don't want to walk in some random direction while the others are walking in the opposite direction.
And, What if my steer just stops walking? I have a VERY stubborn steer and will litterally take two steps and be done. will somebody help me get him to walk again?
The attached photo is my favorite picture of me and my show steer :)

Okay here we go first you should worry about is clipping your steer, get that dude looking good that whats really important. Wear what you want just dont tuck your jeans into your boots while in the show ring. Its pretty disrespectful to the judge and merica, so don't do it ummmkay. As far the ring lets hope you wont be the first class in so watch the first class so you can memorize to ring format. In the ring the judge should have a helper usually an adult or someone who used to show and just cant seem to get away from the show ring. They should able to help your animal get going again.

Have fun, ask questions, NEVER tuck jeans into boots, in fact I would just say NEVER wear "skinny" jeans ;)

For your best success in showing a steer and having a good time doing it, my best advice for you is to worry more about preparing your steer than about how you will wear your size 00 jeans and boots.

Success goes away if your calf doesn't play the game with you.

Watch the early classes so you know the show's protocol.

Good luck.

Don't worry about any of the small stuff even though we still do!!!

Have fun with it. Pay attention to what others are doing. Talk to others.

Where is the show?

What you read was right: NEVER NEVER NEVER show with jeans tucked in your boots. I would say wear a nice, bright button down shirt so the judge can spot you. When you get there, observe and see what everybody is doing. If you need any help knowing what to do, ASK ASK ASK. Their will be people there willing to help you. Their will also be people willing to help you if your steer stops. When you show your steer, be confident. I know you will be nervous, but that calf will be also. He will probably show terrible first time around. However, after the first one, he should be good. I know my main goal for first time calves is to get them in, and get them out. The minor details in showing will come with more experience going and showing. Have fun and GOOD LUCK! :)
