We have a Cunia X Angus Cow that we bought as an embryo from Mike Mimms a few years ago and we are getting ready to start flushing in the next couple weeks she is a typical Cunia that needs hair and a little more thickness.  We are thinking Monopoly 2, BIM, Walks, Ground Zero or Milkman

Some of the best black Purebred Maine's are fairly intensely linebred to Cunia. If you think your Cunia cow goes back to a productive type Angus cow you could breed her to a homozygous black-solid purebred or percentage Maine bull . Either way, heifer or bull would have potential value and something you could paper. O'hara Land and Cattle, Green Valley Ranch, K&A would be a few outfits to start inquiring. A Shorthorn bull might also be another choice which could yeild a red or a black calf (either color is a winner), that could be registered.

I also really like the bull Ready 2 Rumble from Lautner's line-up and know he is not yet proven in the color department, but think his pedigree is really interesting. He is a TH carrier but even if you don't get the positive status (For the real world) you might get something special. His pedigree should really play off of Cunia, IMO. He might be the risk taker here but that is how I like to play around with mating decisions. The Thriller bull is also something that seems to work well and has produced some interesting Maine show cattle as well as some steers.

What I would try an avoid would be the white socks from the Maine genetics. I'm not a big fan of them.

Just some ideas to confuse you.

We aren't trying registered maines just steers. Mimms told us that the cow she is out of raised some good steers out of heatwave for him in the past and had these eggs left for making steer mom's. We just don't want to go with expensive heatwave semen yet until we see how she flushes.

Griswold is an expert on those Cunia x Angus genetics. I would personally like his thoughts on some possible matings that could yield a good show steer or even some good heifers. A good color pattern, IMO, is the tricky part. Just a thought.

A friend suggested unstoppable. Whats anyones thoughts

I like him and his son Ready 2 Rumble. I think something solid color is what I'd be after, too. Maybe ask the owners about the color pattern of Unstoppable. I just don't like the socks that might come with that mating.

I would go with the clone of the legend mono 2. If she flushes good and you want to make females later out of her, go ground zero then

Last year we flushed a maternal sister to Fast Freddy to Walks Alone and the calves were very inconsistent in hair, bone, frame size and muscle.
