Have a cow that needs frame bone and body. She is a clubby bred cow but I want to take her back to take her back to a maternal bull (thinking Simmental and Charolais) and looking for suggestions. Have thought of chopper and firewater but don't think there bring enough body to the table. She is good hopped and good fronted and really stout and hairy and thf. Thanks

She needs frame bone? She needs size?
You say she is stout.
Macho makes nice females. Irish Whiskey depending on her base makes nice females. Northern Improvement.

What has worked on her in the past?

In my opinion, if you have to "ask and experiment" on what bull to flush her to, you shouldn't be flushing her. (Keep in mind, I am pretty conservative!)

I don't think that at all, I simply don't know every bull out there and how ever bull breeds, isn't this what this forum is for to ask suggestions and get feedback from other people. Maybe someone else has a cow similar is type to mine and has tried something that has or hasn't worked in the past.

Troubadour has been working well on hw influence but not sure how much middle he'll add. Maternal perfection calves will start falling soon and he could be an option. You might wanna consider a horn bull like exile too.

I agree. Personally wouldn't take the risk of spending the high $$$ flushing, transplanting, receipts if I hadn't found a mating that had worked in the past. I like I said, just my opinion, good luck with what you choose. Going off pedigree alone, which is hard, I would go with an Irish Whiskey influenced bull or I-80 if she has enough guts.

I know you've gotten a lot of suggestions but I don't know that all of those bulls will add the frame you think you need.  What is the frame score of you cow?  As far as Simmental, I would recommend 3C Macho, Built Right, or even the percentage bull Backlash (full brother to Whiplash).  All should give you the size along with the maternal traits.

There is a ranch that owns Whiplash's mother. White Rooster Cattle Co., they have a good many bulls out of this cow and they are all decent looking IMO

I will state that I am not affiliated with this ranch I just like the genetic line up of some of their bulls.

Thank you to Barry Farms for sharing that information on White Rooster Cattle Company.  That cow has produced some nice bulls.  I'm intrigued.  I'm looking at Lash Out.  A THF PHAF son of Heat Wave and out of the C17 cow?!

If you are looking to improve frame and bone you are essentially looking at using performance bulls not calving ease bulls.  Just keep that in mind.
For a Charolais I would look at SVY Pilgrim from Genex.  He is performance bull and is a frame 7.7 with lots of bone and guts.
A would consider using a full fleckvieh on you cow.  here is a high performance bull that will add bone and guts from Yankee Creek Ranch: http://www.yankeecreekranch.com/bulls/neutron.html
These are not suggestion you would usually get on this site.  If you want to try some well proven performance genetics that will  do what you want in either breed here are two examples
