Semex was one of unique semen companies that kept Shorthorn offering for South America...OK...not the bulls that we would need, but kept it on catalogues showing that Shorthorn are a bovine breed. Last year ABS also insert a new bull on catalogue, the first one on last 20 years I think.
Genex offered two bulls on last 8 years, nothing special.
Not many Shorthorn semen is sold here, I believe that Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay can order annually around 2500 to 3000 straws together.
Not like Capiche.
Companies must understand that with rare breeds as Shorthorn, they need HEAR what exactly the breeders wish and not contract the Champion Show or the bulls that they suspect to be the best one based on some proeminent bredders that also are the bull owner.
Yet waiting for a Shorthorn bull from north hemisphere that I can put the eyes and say...UOOOOWWWW!
Some one are catching my eye on last two years, but none on semen companies being offered for us. The unique way to get it is asking personally with owner and try arrange a good viable price to start the import procedures.
Luckly Semex own an interesting bull that we got import some semen to Brazil last month. Hope that the bull arrive soon.
