Hello Everyone,

I was finally able to get a some pictures of a few cows that I will be flushing or considering flushing in the near future.  I would love any thoughts you have on the cows or suggestions you might have for flushes.  The pictures aren't very good and the cows weren't having the best day at 90 degrees and 80% humidity.  The first is a grand daughter of GS Touche' 3XA and is 9 years old in the picture.  The second is a little different breeding with 2 of the 3 Pacer Performance Sires in her pedigree.  HHFS Dream Weaver is a given to make some calves with all 3 performance sires in the pedigree.  She is also 9 and nursing a bull calf and the picture does her no justice at all.  Trump and Doublestuff do not appear in either cow's pedigree.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Flush the first one to Ivy League, or Sonny if you can get it.  Sonny works great on the Touche line, I have one cow bred that way myself.

Before suggestions pile in for matings I should point out that my goal with the flushing is to make some females to build/continue the cow family.  Some might call me crazy but I would prefer to avoid anything with Trump and DS.  My target is solid, sound, moderate framed (FS 5-6 and 1200lb+) cows.  I would prefer solid red and polled, but a good cow is a good cow no matter what color or if there are horns.  Thanks

Nice quality females!  I would like to see the first one with a little more foot & bone underneath her.  TF Shooter would do exactly that.  He also has a tendency to create nice, clean front ended calves that are sound on the move.  Semen is currently $20/unit, but we will be running a special for Illinois State Fair soon.

I might as well throw my hat into the ring as well. I would suggest Saskvalley Pioneer 126P on these females. He is homozygous polled and as had super correctness. He is a light roan color but his calves are flat good. Wolf Willow Major Leroy is a red / white markings bull that adds thickness, muscle and moderates frame without sacrificing performance or mature weight. The Pioneer and Leroy offspring are some of the easiest fleshing cattle i have ever worked with and both sire cattle with great dispositions as well.
If you are wanting a solid red bull I would suggest the bull Joe Bales is presently promoting ( JoeinTn). He is going to cut a swath in the breed as he is an outcross, moderate and has a low BW and still has performance. You will be riding the wave if you use this bull as he is only going to become more popular with time.

Marge is actually adequate (or even more than) for foot and bone.  The picture is a little deceiving with the shadows and the white stitching on her legs.  I would like to see a little more depth of muscle in her rear quarter.  Her calves have been good with clean fronts and great bone.  They don't come with a lot of hair (but you can't eat that anyway) and they tend to be later maturing than the rest of the calves (but probably just right for many people).  I am attaching a picture of her 2006 heifer out on pasture this summer.  She is out of one of our herd bulls.

The Jazz bull calf of Lovings would be one I would recommend.  AR SU LU Massive.  We have a really nice Massive calf on the ground right now that is really turning it on.  Didn't look like much at first but really turned it on at about 3 months.

I can understand the markings and shadows creating a deciving picture.  I would still recommend Shooter as he can bring those ladies some more depth in that rear quarter.  He would also throw some hairy ones, which is sometimes an added bonus.  However, I will also recommend flushing them to CCS Equity's Charmer.  He has done great things for us and is a great way to go if you want nice sound long-lasting females.

Here is what I have in the tanks for semen:  Pacer, Van Gogh, Buster, Osage, Bushranger, Dream Weaver, Vann, Elite Design, Conquest, Gold Eagle, Ideal Irish, Steermaker, Dr. Pepper, Bonfire, Equity, Double Duty, Eagle 148, Buckshot, Gus 30B, Bonanza, Durango, Hope's Prime Time, "Culhane", "Guinness", Sangamon Leader 4, Kilkelly Duke, and Woodland Improver.  I'm open to other bulls, but would really prefer to use what I already have.

I am planning flushes as follows:

Marge: 1st Conquest, 2nd Buster???
Tangerine: 1st Dream Weaver, 2nd Equity, 3rd Bonanza???

Any thoughts are welcome.  Thank you,
