I can always get my calves tale looking awesome but by the time we get to the ring it has fallen out because she swung it to much. I have put in about half a can of tail adhesive before, but it still falls out. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks to get the tail rock solid so the calf can't mess it up when she swinging her tail.

I herd of an injection to the tail that kind of nums it for a short period. I dont know how ethical it is but some jocks have done it with no problems. At least from what i saw.We had one one year that would always swing her tail into side, messing up that hair everytime. This really drove me crazy just not crazy enough to give her a shot for it.

Do the tail 1st thing when in the chute to give them more time to get use to it.  Plus more time to fix it if it falls down.  Let it dry real good before painting because some of the paint has too much oil in them and breaks down the glue.  I have found on tails sometimes less is more on the glue.

Couple things you can do, #1 and the easiest and makes the most difference is ditch the tail glue and use 3M adhesive, comes in the big black can, I think it's for gluing wall board or something on, horrendous stuff but boy will it make a great tail.

#2 One trick would be take a zip tie and pull it as tight as humanly possible about 5" down from her tail head, it will swell a bit and likely is similar to when you sleep on your arm and wake up and it's numb and dead feeling, often stops them from swishing so much. Clip the sip tie off right after your class and ther will be no ill effects.

Also if you clip the long loose piece off the zip tie it is fairly unnoticable whlie on the calf in the ring.

Not sure how you do your tails, but I agree that less is more. Make sure you do it in layers and get a good base. The zip tie on the tail will work use one that is the color of your calf. ;)
