solid black heifer, didn't check if polled.  when i got home it was getting dark so i didn't get a dried off pic.  i'll try and get a couple tomorrow.  initially, see seemed to have her mom's midas head, which the legacy plus twins didn't.

and no, the fence wasn't on.

yes.

two full sisters sold for about 3500 and 5k at the last maine sale.  no more due to risk of whiskey throwing carriers.  oh well.  i wanted to dilute whiskey a little bit anyway with something maternal even though some say whiskey is maternal, but with his epds i had to see for myself, and roll the dice. i was more interested in the cow than whiskey, especially if i wanted to mate across the two cows with whiskey offspring and taking the risk they wouldn't hold up in the pasture as some would say they get too straight behind.  both cows have decent set to them.  glad i got a heifer out of the gate as semen is usually male.  got one more coming by wild turkey.  probably switch mating next year.  makers mark is a full brother to pendleton and is a PHAC.  with this heifer and access to those two money man bull calves, a guy might have some interesting calving ease from maine's as my midas cow's mother used to be a trait leader for the breed in her day and she throws light calves and does it in about 20 minutes.

Congrats...That looks like a really nice heifer. Moma looks like she's going to take good care of her.

here's 4 more pics

pic a
decent profile pic for rear legs being reversed and downhill, shows decent topline and depth at least compared to calves last year.  i can already tell she's far better than the twins.

picb
terrible pic, terrible lighting, just wanted to get her leg back and it wasn't worth it.

picc  better lighting, average profile, cause she's downhill and starting to step behind

picd, oh well.

overall, i think she's decent.  very pretty head.  i can't feel any nubs.  she's not an uber depth calf, but an improvement over what i've had.
