What will each do on Angus cows to make Maintainers?? Who is better maternally? Who has more power?

Thanks,

I dont know much about Gold Club, However, I have seen some darn nice calves out of whiskey on angus cows. I like whiskey alot, he is the base of most of my herd. I have however only used whiskey himself twice, and I absolutely loved the results. Most of my cows are out of a PHAF whiskey son, and whsikey PHAF full brother. I have also added 2 Paddy x strictly bussiness x foreplay heifers to my show string and I cant wait to get them bred and have some calves out of them.

bccc what irish son did you use, I am really trying to stay "free' as I try to raise females
Well he goes by the name of BFW Whiskey Echo, The folks that own him purchased him in Denver at the Maine sale for $7,500. They just use him as a herd bull, However they have talked about collecting him, but I dont think they have yet. I took a picture of him last fall, and it looked exactly like the picture of whiskey with his head down. He is a PHAF full brother to BFW Whiskey For My Men.

I think Irish Whiskey's niche is Angus cattle for Maintainers, don't think you can beat them.  I don't have any experience with Gold Club so can't really compare the 2.  When IW went down to 50 we bred all of our purebred Angus cows to him, and we will be doing it again this year.  I think IW wins both Maternal and power but like I said, never used Gold Club so that is just what I have seen.

Thanks for the responses, sounds like we have a winner.

I  also must say he really puts some power in them, I have showed a few heifers out of him and everyone always say they would be better as steers.

I have used both, and I have liked the results of both matings.  Whiskey works well on angus and low % maine cows.  Gold Club works great on really stylish angus cows that need more rib and muscle.  I have seen both bulls in person and was impressed with both.

I dunno how Gold Club works on Angus, but I seen two dang nice calves outta him that were ETs. You wanna talk thick and hairy little buggers, they were it. I really like how they were colored up. With that in mind, I am a little partial to chromed up calves. But overall, they were really attractive calves.
