Does anyone follow the suggestions by the Farmers Almanac on when and when not to cut your show calves hair? If you follow the almanacs dates to cut hair and promote hair growth, were the results good or bad?

Matt fuss does it religiously I'd say it works pretty good as I help him on occasion. I used to not but after helping fuss I started especially when I went to slick my steer this summer he grew it back thicker and fuller than as a calf

I know a guy in Texas that swears by it as well. His calves always have great hair but who knows it is because of that or because of the work put in.

I tried it after talking with a lowline breeder who always had great hair and got good results. Sheared my heifer that didn't ever have a lot of hair after my state fair. In just 3 months she had a thick coat of hair for the American Royal. Im sold on it.

Thanks for all the replies to my question. I have been debating trimming up a couple of my kids heifers for their district show because I would hate to do something that could cause the heifers to not have much hair at OYE. I know my kids want to go to the show and they have been working hard, so going to the show would be a small reward for all their hard work.

I have always wondered about that.  Where can I find a Farmers Almanac that actually shows this.

I have tried to look, but I believe I have been looking at a summary version of the Almanac.
