Its been a while since I've posted. I always saw people talk about how good it felt to win with their own animals. Well this year my daughter has gone from fair to great with her heifer. Most of the heifers she's ever shown have been her homegrown animals. After five years of breeding up she finally hit on one. Best of all it is from her cow and her bull. Started by having some success at jackpot shows, but those don't always mean that much. Then at the State Fair of Texas she got reserve division. That came as a complete surprise. Then we had our county show where she was reserve breed. Finally this past weekend she was division winner at Fort Worth stock show junior show. It literally brought a tear to mom and dads eye. She has worked hard day in and day out without receiving all of the accolades. She does it for the true love of her herd. She still has Houston to go this year so we will see how that goes. It was also nice to see how genuinely happy others outside of the family were for her. Its one of those things you always tell your kids. Hard work does pay off. In this case it is with the awards. The better part as a dad is to see the growth as a young lady that has come with the time spent. I will end the boasting and hope others who are where she was a few years ago don't give up because the awards are fun but the real awards are the growth into a smart respectable and hard working young man or woman.
