It's always a treat to come home and watch the grand drive of a steer show after a  day of work.  Agree... Nice steers. Thought they looked very practical. Thanks again.

Great job Sam and Amanda.

Champ sired by MCC Cupid
Reserve sired by Plainview Lutton E102

I was watching via Liveauctions.tv and  missed his reasons for class 2 and I was surprised with the choice for reserve based on his reasons for classes 6 and 7. Those calves were deserving too, but the Lut steer must have been better.  He was really stressing balance and structure with the steers saying that lesser structured cattle basically were poorer performers.  Interesting, but it drives home the trend on structure, mobility and soundness. not just power, thickness and muscle shape.

He liked 'em SOUND, growthy, soft sided with shape to 'em. Loved the steer that won class 6 (we had one steer in that class-- stood 3rd) and honestly kinda thought he had grand wrapped up with the way he was picking them today; especially when he was talking 'middle of the road, practical kind of steer with performance'. Still, grand and reserve were very good (obviously) and thought the judge did an outstounding job finding the good and sorting the rest. JMHO. Congrats to all, there was A LOT of high quality animals out there.

MCC Cupid is featured in the Genex lineup...I think there were some production issues, as I think semen was hard to get.  Perhaps that has changed since I last inquired...

Anyone looking for a prospect PB Angus steer for next year, we have a Dawson's Cherokee 166 on a 1st calf heifer that looks to be a good candidate. The dam's reg# is 16142168. We were out sizing up the calves last evening and he will make the top 5 steers, running with the clubbie bred calves IMO. He will be priced reasonable. Located north of Corning,Iowa. Please pm me if @ all interested.
