Yep they are every where, Is anyone else having issues with this? What is causing this, i figured the birds would be hear eating up a storm but they are just letting this huge grasshopper crop of mine eat everything they can get on. Def need to make a game plan for next year but i really have no idea how to go about it, or is just something im just going to have to deal with.

We had them so bad in the mountains to the east of us last year, when you drove down the road you had to be carefull not to spin out. Took about 3 truck washings to get the green out from every where.

Wild turkeys were awfully fat the year though.

I don't know alot about the grasshopper cycles or what makes them bad certain years. They were really bad around central Wyoming last year but this year they are not near as bad. They had been bad the last couple of years and the County Weed and Pest had dust cropper planes out spraying fields the last couple of summers. So I don't know if that was what took care of the grasshoppers or not but they are not bad this year because the past 2 years we were in your boat.

Yup, they are like the plague in Texas this  year.  In the years we have a wet spring they aren't so prevelant because they get a fungus that kills off the offspring.  In these dry years, they don't have anything to kill them off other than birds, and there's no way they can keep up with them.

This is the first year we haven't had any to speak of in five or six years. They have stripped all our pecan trees bare by this time in years past but this year they still have all their leaves. I wish I knew of a good way to get rid of them.

The natural predator to the grasshopper is Fungus.  bad thing is fungus grows from Moisture.  Not much out there.  Moisture that is.  We sure need a rain.  Bring on the huricanes.

They are REALLY bad here also! We left for nationals for a week, and when we got back I had nothing but weeds left! My greenbeans were stripped clean, the cabbage gone, everything. When you walk, they are EVERYWHERE! And,we have had no real rain to speak of! So what little grass is left the grasshoppers eat!
What is Tempo?
