We have flushed our Hairy donor twice this yr. Both times the semen we have used has been poor quality. The technician AI her always tests the semen before doing it. On the first bull it showed really low mobility so just to be safe we put in 5 straws. We got 10 eggs out of the deal so i can live with using that many straws.  But Thursday ahead was bred for her her flush next week and when checking the semen the vet said mobility was low again and more or less half of the straw was dead so again we put in 5 straws. Hope it pays off again! Just curious if anyone else has had problems like this and what can u really do to get higher quality semen?

What bull? I would have a problem using that many straws if it is because of bad semen. I hope it is resonably priced semen.

I don't have a problem with any of the owners or companies but the bulls were 2 of the biggest one used last urn and one that is probably going to be used pretty heavily this yr! One came from stepping stone genetics and the other came straight from collection. Im most concerned about is that the bull we just used this week which is a new bull this yr was the poor semen which the vet said might not have good enough to even use for ai'ing. That really bothers me
