Has anyone shown a hiefer with short ears?

We had a hiefer born in January and lost most of her ears.  She stayed part of the first day in the truck with my seven year old.  He has said from that day that he was going to show her, now she has really developed into a nice female.  So I am going to let him show her.  I was just wondering if you guys think any judges will discount her because of her short ears.

They shouldn't its not heritable and shouldn't detract much from her overall appearance should be fine

No i don't think any judges would care about that i had a heifer that i bought for a cow and her ears were really short because of frost bite but then she started looking like a really nice show heifer so i showed her and the judge loved her she placed very good.

Had a heifer that lost part of an ear. Off showside. Never held her back from winning, but did make her a bit stupid when she wanted to be. Not sure if that was because she was spoiled or not, but she sure could see stuff coming toward her a deal earlier than the others could. Guess it was b/c her vision wasn't as blocked by an ear. Thoughts on that?

I have heard people say those with bob ears can rub off halters easier but never have seen one docked at a show for being bob eared. In some ways, I think the ears draw more attention to them, which to me would be a good thing if they were a decent calf.

Up here in Canada there are LOTS of cattle shown every year with short ears.

It happens from time to time, I would just show her, enjoy it and forget about her ears.


They won't grow back but I bet her calves will have normal sized ears at the time of birth.

only a complete idiot would place a calf down with frosted ears....

sullivans won champion breedign heifer at iowa beef expo few years back with a frosted ear heifer

How about no tail??? Just my luck to get some really nice calves this year lose ears & switches to frostbite.

I have a heifer that I'm showing this year with short ears and no tail switch. She has placed right in there with some $20-30k heifers.

I also know of a Hereford heifer a few years ago at NAILE that won her division with only 7 or 8 inches of actual tail.

Thank for the reply.  I have a durham red by Off Road that I wanted to show but was concerned because of the frostbitten tail.
