I seen on executive sires blog that Heat Waves dam was recently flushed which obviously means she's alive and well, I'm assuming she would have to be around 16 years old since Heat Wave was a 2000 model. Just wondering if anyone has a picture of her or thoughts on the fact that a 16 year old club calf cow is still producing eggs when it seems that most clubbie cows don't see that age to often.

Heatwave has killed more cows than Monfort. By reducing cow numbers.......cattle prices go up.

totally irrelevant like most of your posts are

It's not unheard of for some of those cows to produce for a very long time because they don't have the wear and tear of calving every year and you know they are fed and taken care of as good as it can get, I don't know anything on heatwaves mother but I have heard of some pretty old donor cows

How many natural calves did she have? I heard heatwave had a 160# bith weight. Very many of those would be tough on a cow I would think. Was heatwave out of a receipt or his own dam. Thanks in advance.

NO as they will fail just as he has. I haven't done any better but if you want to gripe about Show Calf genetics go some where else, this is a primarily show cattle board hence the name "Steer Planet" about show steers, see the connection Steer Planet and show Steers?!?

not knocking show cattle at all.  read closely.  just wondering if anyone is trying.  i'm thinking people have a little more experience than aj at making show cattle.

All I asked was how many natural calves she had had......and if she personally gave birth to heatwave. Ihave heard that he had a 160# bwt. That is bashing? I guess I will be getting a letter from the irs now.

Alley talk is that heatwave was born by C-section by his actual dam. Alley talk he was 160#. Alley talk is that he was her last nature calf.

I see lots of cattle that shouldn't reproduce. I see lots of bloodlines that should be terminal, but are used maternally. I see lots of maternal cattle being used as terminal. As much as I hate to admit it, just because I do not like a certain type of cattle, should not disqualify someone else from using it.  As long as the bloodline or practice does not threaten the livestock industry or my choice of livelihood, I guess to each their own.
I also do not care if they voice their opinions. AJ does make a point, even if you do not want to accept it. Heatwave has killed plenty of females due to lack of management, lack of concern, and maybe lack of honesty on birth weight.

I did see heatwave near his end, and it was a sad sad sight.

I guess aj is doing the board a service.

When postings are low, bring up heatwave.

It's more predictable than an epd on SODhouse Charlie.

If a RA x SH cow had a 130# bull calf and it hipped locked and she died , by a windmill 3 miles from the house, and coyotes ate them both before anybody knew . Did it ever really happen?

Everything I am going to post came right from Max himself. Heat wave was Terrys first calf. he was 140# and was cut out of her. Terry is a Taz daughter. He was a March calf and Lautner advertises him as a june calf I believe. Max said he was small  (other than at birth) that is why Lautner lied about his birth date while promoting him. The Cow has produced several good animals. They have a Meyer daughter they are flushing, She has a monopoly they will promote this year. There are several natural full brothers to heat wave that have produced good calves. They have a red smilin bob out of terry they promoted but he never froze semen, he is however breeding naturally. By the way, Max sold him for $1500
