I have a Heatseeker cow (red and white) that I'm going to flush next month. She is big bodied, sound, and really good patterned. She needs to be massed up. I was planning on flushing her to Jigsaw, but I seen some this weekend that were ok but not sure if it they will be stout enough. What have you guys had luck with on HS females? Any suggestion? Oh she is TH - so carriers are fine.

Have you thought about Nelson's 26T2 bull?  I have been super impressed with his calves and they've brought semen prices down to $25 now on him.  I'm using him on all my red cows and white carriers.  He's homo black and solid pattern from what I've heard.

Pale Face works awfully well on HS cows.

Hairy Bear is another option.  Champ steer @ NAILE 2008 was a Hairy Bear x HS.

Best thing about both of these bulls is that they are TH/PHA free.  No worries about having dead TH calves.  May still end up with calves that are  carriers, but they'll be alive.

The jigsaws i have a definetely stout enough.  From what i have seen he works great on smaller framed cows.
I have one out of a grizz witch dr tj and is stout hairy and better than her frictions were and i sold all of them.
One out of double visoin cow that is long necked hairy stout and big assed heifer.
One out of a tj daughter that is geeked necked and will make a tremendous donor.  Probably one of the best two calves this cow ever had and the other one was dejavu ( full flush son)

Pale Face, he was made for HS.

I've seen a few nice Pale Face calves, just not enough to convince that he is the go to bull for Heatseeker.  I'm sure he was probably used pretty heavy that way for a few years and there just didn't seem to be a lot of good ones shake out when it was all said and done.

I reccomended Manchild because I think you want to use a carrier if she is clean and I think you want to stay away from Heatseeker genetics just for the inbreeding reason.  I know it can work to line them up and I've seen a couple damn nice HW x HS calves.  Its just not something I would reccomend unless you were pretty confident that u weren't gonna get a knothead.  Or if you just want to gamble.  Which is what club calf matings are mostly anyways I guess...

So to get a carrier without going the HS route you need to use something of shorthorn influence.  Manchild is just what comes to mind I guess.  You could also use a shorty bull and get Shorthorn breed steers.  But that can be kinda tough to do also, but thats a whole another story.

You say she is red and white and clean? Corner the market on shorthorn characteristics and breed her to Crimson Tide, pha carrier] or go clean with Tiger Woods,if you want to go black bull, pick any carrier that has some good maine blood.with not much Angus.
