I'm completing a research project in a college course on the relationship of cow age vs. gestation length in beef cattle. I'm using data from my own herd in my study, but just realized I need to compare my results to prior research studies. Any suggestions on finding research in this area? Any databases or websites that may be helpful. After a quick web search, most articles relate to variances in gestation between breeds (obviously) and dairy information. Ideally these would be actual university studies and not surface level opinion type articles. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are some breeds that track gestation length and may be willing to supply you with their raw data or even averages. A quick search on the internet should also bring up quite a few studies.

Quite a few breeders track gestation length as well (especially those that AI) so you should be able to ask others for it, but that may be labour intensive for them.

You are probably also best to use data from purebred herds or commercial herds that are essentially only using one breed as the data would be less variable than herds with a lot of mixed breeds. Breed will have a significant effect on gestation length.
