How does your herd sire line up look like? Our black angus yearling passed the semen test and was dropped off this afternoon. He is a little coarser up front than we had hoped for and because we have a nice calving ease shorthorn we will probably end up putting our yearlings with the shorthorn again. "Rosco" is one year old. he is getting the cows we don't want to keep heifers from.  Governor is two and we are putting our best ( or favourite) cows with him. What do you think? If you have pictures of the bulls your using it would be nice to see them.

Just going to start off with one as of now, since he's the only one I have a current picture of :)  We call this guy Mojo, he's a 3/4 blood Dream On X 734 bred by Double J.  Also attached is one of the replacement heifers from his first calf crop, she's a February 2011 out of a Hereford/ Angus cow.

It would not make a very interesting post if I put up a picture of 3 different straws of semen, but I plan to use 3 bulls this yeaar by AI.  Shadybrook Scotty will be used on the heifers.  The others will get either Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M or Glenford Gus 4H.

The three who will see the most service are Prophecy, Captain, and Tier One. Xplosion is going to be working on some commercial two year old's starting May 1st so he is being selectively bred here until then.   We are very pleased with our calves and think that Captain has joined Prophecy as a consistent sire.  Wentworth will be returning from BC in May Circle M are absolutely thrilled with his calves.

Came from Burke's in Nebraska? If so I was impressed by this bull as a heifer bull and was tempted to bid on him.

BR Midland Grandson out of a B A R Ext Traveler 205 daughter

This picture is of him at work last year, it'll probably be his last year on our place, we only have about 10-12 calves a year and we've been keeping back some heifers of his that are real nice, so it's time for a new bull that isn't related....so he'll be for sale when work is done this summer if anyone is interested  ;D

As for this year, we're also using EXAR Tryon on a couple cows,  Right Answer on the heifers and I got some Eye Candy a week for the price went up for my one clubby momma!

Love the head on this bull- breed character at its best. I hate seeing long headed, big eared or a low ear set on an Angus. I don't like that upward sloping tailslope though.  Generally this tail head is associated with an upward sloping pelvic which creates a tall narrow birthing canal. Do his daughters share this trait? I don't know the Angus breed like pedigree wise- what bloodlines look this part- as far as that head?

I think the picture isn't the most flattering for his hip actually, he's stretched out a bit. We sold all the heifers from his first set of calves, so I am not sure how they have developed, all his calves from last year are still around and there isn't any that come to my mind in having a high tail head. Below is another photo of him, he's still a little stretched, but it's a but better.

Below that photo is a head shot of one of his bull calves last year, I love how "angus" his head looks. The bull goes back to BR Midland and EXT, but I am not sure what lines give you the best breed characteristics. I agree that I can't stand the flat, ugly heads!

I attached a few photos of his heifers that we kept over winter. Pardon the photos as they aren't that great, the girls are a bit green, the pictures are from January or so and they don't get grain. We've been real happy with how his calves are looking.
