Since your heifer is already bred to him, you can't exactly turn back, so just watch her closely as her due date approaches! There was a topic on here about how his and some other bulls numbers have tanked this spring. One tanked last season and then came back up. With his pedigree, I don't exactly see how his calving ease EPD can drop to be that low that fast. There are a few users on here who have bred to him who can tell you more! I have a friend who has a group bred to him so we should know more this spring! Good luck! (thumbsup)

Had one at our place - not ours but some guys left their load. It was a PB simm heifer that calved and it was very small - probably under 65 pounds.

We had one in the fall, 49 pounds, a bull at 283 days gestation (out of a heifer). We had a cow in the fall have a bull calf, 72 pounds, 287 days gestation.
We sold a bred heifer that had one a few weeks ago, a heifer calf, not sure of the weight but she had it on her own.
We had a heifer here, great EPD's, go 278 days. Found the calf dead, very swollen head (indicating difficult birth), and 73 pounds. It was a bull calf, and he was shaped very blocky (heifer is a Shear Force bloodline).
Unfortunately, I bred a Broker heifer to him several weeks before his new numbers came out, and she stuck. I was going to sell her as a bred heifer in our spring sale, but now am holding on to her to calve her out myself since I do not trust his numbers.
I WILL NOT use him on a heifer again, unless the numbers change. I will use the remaining of my semen on cows.

I have a Steel Force heifer that I had planed on breeding to Broadway this April, and likely I still will because I just don't believe his drastic number change. But I would appreciate an update when your heifer calves.

I agree. I bet ya the pop back up when the new fall EPD's come out. Same thing happened to Wide Range.

I had a pb bull calf born out of him about 3 weeks ago. He was unassisted and was smaller than what my calves usually are. His dam is a Harkers domination. It was surprising that he got so much white on his face. His dam is all black with a little white on her udder and Broadway doesn't have much white either! I'll try to post some pics

Thanks for the replies I will be watching her close as with all of my heifers. I had a 95 pound revenue bull calf born today from a heifer was not expecting it to me nowhere near that big

Great looking calf! I've yet to hear a horror story on his bw.

I have. Last fall, at our fall sale, there were two (large) breeders that said they refused to use him. They had been told about several breeders that "had to cut the calf out of the cow", and predicted his numbers would drop drastically when the new EPD's came out.
I then talked with another breeder who told me CCR had no troubles calving out a pasture full of heifers that were bred to him.
Well, his numbers did drop. I think that it goes back to using him on certain bloodlines will make for a big calf. What are those bloodlines? I don't know yet, we have been OK so far, but I am not going to tempt fate and use him on anymore heifers until more data comes out. I have a Broker heifer bred to him, and she already has a positive bw EPD, but I will watch her carefully and calve her out myself. I would not think twice about using him on cows though. The worst part is, his calves will have the horrible EPD profile that he has acquired... and I do not like that.
As much as he was used, I would like to see some calves, soon I hope.
