how early can you work a calf

what age can you start clipping them and washing i was told if they are to younge they wont grow hair all summer ???

Had a June calf that we started putting in the cooler at 2 1/2 weeks and it all worked out ok.

saw a heavy bred heifer calve at a show about 36 hours before the show and the crew fitted the calf and lead it in behind the cow in the breeding beef class, i think she got reserve at the show,  lol

i have seen heifers show with fresh dropped calves at denver, never too early as long as you use your discretion and don't get too vigerous with them

I had an old mule man tell me that is the only way to break a mule to lead.  Have a halter on before it is out of the mare.
