I have it on very good advice that I should breed my wide based Heat Wave x Meyer cow to I Da Man.  I know about all of his sisters...even saw a younger one at Fort Worth.  Can't deny what they've done.  And Daddy's the bomb.

However, when asked about my PB Angus cow, larger framed, great profile but doesn't have the width of base or carry down in her hip like the other, I was told to use a different bull.

I've also seen pictures of him in his working clothes.  Not bad.  But like the heifers, more moderate build it would appear.  Has anyone seen him in the flesh?  Anyone have some calves by him?  And I don't mean out of top donors but every day working cows.

IMO, the picture I saw of Fu Man Chu at Hawkeye Breeders shows a bull that appears to be much more powerful.  Any wider?

I believe that I Da Man is going to end up being a good one!  As with any bull, it will all be in the mating.  If he gets bred to enough high quality cows, there will darn sure be some good ones!

I agree with you regarding Fu Man Chu being more powerful.  I guess he should be since he is a TH carrier, and I Da Man is double clean.

I have not seen your HW cow, but can understand how you have been advised to use I Da Man on her.  A powerful HW (carrier) cow is exactly what I would envision him working great on!

just had a I Da Man heifer out of an older 3D cow around 90 lbs. Only a few days old but only think I would knock her on now is she doesn't have massive hair but other than that she's stout and has some bone to her. Like I said only a couple days old, time will tell

I had one hit the ground today and after seeing this one I'm really excited to see the rest I have coming. Came unassisted 82#. Mine has good hair, and was up and around in a few mins.

I think I would use something different on the Angus cow. Fu man chu is a bit larger framed and not as thick as some others.  Might want to look at walks alone or I believe for the Angus.  Just my opinion,  I saw those bulls last spring.

Should I pull the trigger and breed her to Heat Wave/Clone?  Only after I see what she does with this calf, a Jesse James due in May.  That would still give me a calf that would be high enough % Chi to be eligible...and if I don't care about that should I just do MAB?

If anyone is thinking of using I Da Man this year, you might want to get your semen bought pretty quickly.  Was talking to Chris Terembes at the Ohio Beef Expo and he said that he is not freezing right now and if they don't get him going again soon, the price is going up.  Have only seen one I Da Man in person this year and he is awesome.  Thick, deep and has great hair with ample frame.  We are using him, hoping he may be better than his sire by downsizing them slightly and adding the power from his dam.  All of our Who Da Man females are awesome in production, so I am sure they will be comparable.
