Has anyone used any joint supplements? After about 5 min of walking the steer he starts to hold his rear leg and won't put any weight on it. He flex fine at hocks and pasture but it seems to be in his hip. With the high temps we have been leaving the steer in the cooler room 23 hrs a day we take him out at 5 am and try to walk him for about a hour. After walking we rinse and after he gets cool he puts weight on it and walks sound as a cat. Is it just lack of excersise, heat or ?? We keep them seperate so I know he didn't get bump or pushed around and he is on dirt outside and mulch on dirt inside.

I wouldn't recommend that he stays in the cooler that long. My suspicion is he is getting stiff when he gets out from the cooler temps.

Usually he is out all night but this week with the heat and humidity we have kept them in. Next week it is suppose to cool off and hopefully we can let him back out all night.

I too would have him out of the cooler no matter how hot. Do you sacrifice hair for a lame calf? Turn him out around 8pm, till 6or 7am. Hes needs to move. He is getting stiff from lack of movement, and that's going to bite you hard, worse than any lack of hair.
