What are people's thoughts on the show and results.  I found it very interesting that very little was mentioned about structure and movement.  I thought that was odd to not stress good structure in a breed show.....Not that I thought any of the top animals were structurally difficient just found it odd in many classes where structure was an obvious issue it was rarely addressed....

I agree...they do work hard and love showing.  I think it is always great when new names come to the very top.... Ben did well last year with a steer in many junior shows.

really like the Charolais composite....that makes 2 in the last three years that have been Supreme.  Will everyone be buying composites this fall?

I was fortune enough to be in attendance and thought it was one heck of a set of females. I really liked the Chi heifer that ended up third and was hoping that the Shorthorn of Vogel's would make the top 5.

Anyone know the breeding of the Weiss heifer? Someone thought that she may be Wagonhammer bred.

Weis's bought the champion heifer from Wagonhammer.  She's an Interstate(Alias X HooDoo) daughter out of a Charolais cow.  Very nice heifer!!

By the way, there was an interesting discussion on SP about INTERSTATE in April of 2007.  If you go to the search box and type in interstate & charolais it should be one of the 2-3 items that pop up.  I would have put it right in here but I'm an old geezer and I don't know how to do those fancy electronic manipulations!!

I think this was the toughest heifer show line up I have ever seen....he could have gone multiple different ways.  Thats a true testament to the quality level at this show.

Talked to a friend the other night and he heard that the owners of Dunlap sale barn (Shabens) bought a heifer that Sullivans ran through the barn as a cull that they purchased for $600 that was Champion Commercial heifer?  I don't see that in the results...maybe a division winner or did he get some bad info?

In the 4-H Breeding show there aren't divisions in the commercial heifers...there are different classes ....
There were 9 classes of commercial heifers

Bailey Schaben won a class of 8 calves.
It was a Feb 1 heifer that weighed 1275 lbs....

Of the 9 class winners Nick Sullivan won Champion Commercial and Troy Shaw was reserve Champ Commercial

heck of a hfr. show but in the end one hfr. really stuck out for me,the reserve hfr. was a stand out. the third place hfr. was nice but  the white hfr. that won seemed to be fortunate that a charl. guy was sorting.
