They are coming , they are coming!! I was planning on taking some time today to get some pictures of my Leader 21st calves, but it was so cloudy and dull that I decided to try again tomorrow. I am really a bit surprised by the amount of hair these L 21 calves have.... maybe I have stumbled upon a TH free clubby line... haha. The pictures will be posted as soon as I can get some. Thanks for asking about them.

That Presto Cow looks AWESOME!!!

I look forward to seeing pictures of the Coronet Leader 21st Calves myself.

Btw JIT,

Which cow is it that I saw in another post of yours, that you were talking about that was so thick that two people could probably lie on her back?

I think you are referring to Prairie Lane Sparkle, momma of Wolf Willow Major ...I am not JIT but really enjoy his herd. Really like his donors and would take any that he decided to give away. Like the strawberry cow as well. Probably one of my favorites on his page.

Hi OH Breeder,

I too enjoy looking at JIT's cows on his site.  I really like what he has to offer in the way of genetics.  He seems to have a very wide range of different types of genetics for every breeding purpose.

I think you may be right about the cow being "Prairie Lane Sparkle" that I was talking about.  She was the very first female of his to come to mind when he mentioned having a cow that was thick enough for two people to lie on her back.

Here is a picture of our Leader 21st bull calf taken this morning. He is 35 days old now. This pic does not really show his thickness good enough. He is almost red, with just a little white on his underline and white hairs in his tail. I did not take a pic of his full sister, as she is very lame this morning... her hooves are quite swollen so I treated her with antibotics and hopefully she is back to normal soon. Not sure what happened to her, as I did not see her favoring it yesterday.

The cow that I said two people could sleep on her back was Six S Leah x* but Sparkle would also be a good candidate if you ever were short of a place to sleep. Both these cows are quiet enough to let you do this. We purchased Leah last fall in Alberta, at the Butterfield dispersal. After a 550 mile trip she weighed 2085 lb right off the trailer, so I am thinking she probably would weigh 2150+ if I got her full. I know most everyone is probably thinking that a cow this size is way too big... and you are right. She came right off pasture and her calf was weaned 5 minutes before she was loaded. Years ago, there were herds full of cows like this in Western Canada, but these big, massive bodied, easy fleshing cows like this,  are really hard to find now. I still think cows like this have a place in our industry, as a source of these easy fleshing genetics. Leah weaned a heifer calf that weighed 850 lb with no supplemental grain, and no creep for the calf.

Here is Six S Leah 55L, the cow discussed earlier here. This was taken about 6 weeks ago.
