I thought I would post a few pics taken in the last couple days in our pastures. We have been blessed with excellent rains and the pastures are great but it does present some challenges to take some pictures. You have to be careful driving in the pastures as you oftentimes cannot see the calves.

1) April heifer by HC Free Spirit 6Y ET. Dam is by Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M
2) HC Bazinga 13B. A March11/14 bull calf by HC Timeline 17T ET.  BW 92 lbs.
3) Six S Leah 55L and May heifer calf by Free Spirit. ( BW 82 lbs). Leah is now 13 years old and she is the most prolific cow we ever owned. She has produced 328 embryos so far( averaged over 27/ flush) and we have sold them to 9 countries. We are almost sold out of her embryos now.
4) New Beginnings Elsie's Jade - now almost 16 years old. She is headed for the ET center 1 more time.

Grant, The 1st heifer sure looks like she has some meat in her. The calves look good. You know we have 4 granddaughters of Elsie Jade by 4 different bulls and like all 4 of them.

Elsie's Jade does not look as good today as she did in her prime, but she has certainly done her part in our herd to produce some good offspring. Our Free Spirit bull is a son of hers and he is the 3rd son we have used. I think Free Spirit is going to be the best breeding son we have had. His first calf crop is very interesting to say the least.

Mike, I heard a few weeks ago that Bollum's lost the dam of your grand daughters. She was sired by Sprys True Blue Y033x and I am hoping to flush Elsie's Jade to True Blue again. Hopefully we can get some embryos out of her, but ET can be a bit of a crap shoot at the best of times, let alone on a 15+ year old donor.

A few more:
1) Birdstail G Gus 1W x - on pasture after 9 weeks in the breeding pasture.
2) Waukaru Melita Rose 7048 x - by Weebollabolla Theodore.  She has a neat heifer calf by HC Bar Code 16X ET ( by Pheasant Creek Leader 4th)
3) HC Sparkle Delight 77W x by Star P Matrix 4N. Her dam is at Cyclone Trace in Iowa. Her full sister is at Hahn's Shorthorns, in Illinois. I could use an entire herd like her.
4) Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K - 14.5 years old. Bred to calve this fall and then will be flushed for a breeder in New Zealand. Two ET daughters are presently being flushed for Australia and New Zealand.

Lady Sophia 7N was purchased by Fantasy Lane in Ontario at $7500 in the Fever sale several years ago. They kept her at the ET center and flushed her extensively and she then came back here where I was going to breed her and send her back to flush some more after she had calved. I found her dead in the pasture in the fall. She produced some good calves and your bull was a very good one!

JIT- has Birdtail G Gus been collected? If so, is there semen available (in Canada)?

We are planning on collecting some semen from Gus 1W later this summer. Once I pull him from pasture, I will start the testing. Here in Canada it can take 4-6 weeks to get the entry tests done. Once they are completed he can enter the AI stud and domestic ( Canadian qualified semen ) can be collected right away. If US qualified semen is needed, he has to go through a couple more sets of tests. I will be collecting exportable semen so that it can be used to produce exportable embryos. I have already had requests for Gus 1W embryos that are qualified for the UK so we will be getting export quality semen as soon as possible.

1) HC Maid's Perfection 40B  ETx -  A Shadybrook Perfection 35S X Sprys Maid . This embryo was collected in Australia and out of the excellent Sprys Maid female. She is going to make an excellent cow. We also have an excellent set of Shadybrook Perfection 35S heifers out or Six S Leah 55L.
