Looks like he has potential but he's pretty green right now. Do you have a rear shot?

Nice steer. If he were mine, I would throw the feed to him and maybe grow his hair a little longer, unless it is a slick show.

i've only had him two weeks and have been pouring the feed to him and we do have a slick show. when i first got him he was very hairy but i had to cut his hair because it is pretty hot down here in south texas. thanks for the advice any other info will be greatly apprciated.

I'd push the feed as well. I'd also keep grassy hay in front of him so it expands his gut a little bit. Good looking steer!

I agree pour the feed to him and go strait to a finisher, he needs more fat and less protein.

He looks like he is going to have plenty of size. I would get him on a good feed ration. WHen did you say his show was? Free choice grass hay.Nice calf.  Good length of body. Just need to fill him up.

The one thing for this time of year when he is taking on feed is to get him wormed now and then again in30-45 days so he can utilize the feed in him
and agree feed carbs less protein

He has nice length of rib and looks smooth fronted enough. Really like his long neck. He looks like he is going to be pretty tall. You are going to have to work hard to get him to fill out and not up. We have always been told oats make them tall corn makes them fat. Good luck, post more pictures in a couple of months.
