I won't name names, but I received a well known livestock publication in the mail today. EVERY sale that was advertised in this magazine was history. EVERY one had already happened. This is the second publication I have received in the last two weeks like this. I feel sorry for the advertisers who paid good money for advertising that was not delivered in a timely manner.

With the US Post office downgrading service to continue to be in business, mail delivery will continue to get slower and slower. Are livestock publications that derive the majority of their revenue from time sensitive advertising going to be a thing of the past? Or will the publications have to use first class mail to get them delivered and raise advertising rates accordingly. Then will those rates make advertising costs prohibitive in a magazine through the mail format?

Yea, I know what you mean. I get a couple of magazines that the same thing happens to me. One is a cattle show magazine and one is a general farm magazine that is local for the state with small consumer ads but also general farm estate auction ads that usually 2/3 of them have already happened.
As far as online catalogs go , I like to look at them as a precursor of whats going to be available . When it's said and done I want to hold to hold that catalog in my hands and physically turn the pages. Lots of times with the online catalogs the pictures are somewhat blurry. I don't know if that is something to do with the pixels or what , but when I get the catalog they are fine.
