Hello:) I am In the market to buy a set of scales for my nephews 4H projects and I would like some reccomendations. I like the bar type not the crate type so we can use it for both the calves and pigs,  what features are handy? What brand do you like? Thanks in advance :)

We have a set of true-test with the platform. They have  been GREAT hauled around to weigh at shows throwed around in the truck and trailer. Holds the charge very well.
Just be careful when buying for pigs because they will rock the scales and the cheaper models will not take a weight until the animal is still. Go ahead spend the money and get a good set.
I am very pleased with them 3 years worth and have not had any problems.

We have Gallagher scales with the aluminum platform (the weigh bars are attached to platform).  They have worked great over the past five years although if you went with this system, make sure you get the mat (or make your own) to set on the platform because our cattle do not like to walk on the aluminum.  The one negative is that they are too heavy to be comfortably moved by one person....I assume most of the systems are this way.  I have no idea about pigs but they do give accurate weights on humans....I can't imagine they won't work on pigs.  Happy hunting!
