Did everyone agree with his top 5. I felt he sure left some good ones standing and used some pretty average calves in his top 5. Sure liked the shorthorn, and loved the foundation Simmental until she moved. Shocked the Maintainer was not in the top 3.

Lucky us...I know what we'll see at the MO state fair open show lol.  Walkers are great people...I imagine she was one good rip. (thumbsup)

I thought the judge did a great job,a show with that many high quality heifers will always leave good ones out of the final drive.

I agree that there was lots of great ones, but you can't miss a heifer like that maintainer. I think the point some were making on here is compared to that mainetainer several of the top 5 looked average. They were definetly great calves, but a good judge can't miss that one. I thought she wins the show easily and everyone else is in a fight for reserve.

We appreciate the kind comments about our Maintainer heifer, and feel she was definetly deserving of being in the top 5, however, lets be careful not to take away from the KIDS who owned the ones that did win. I am sure they are just like Mason, working hours in the barn trying to get better and to improve their animals. Although, I may not have agreed with the judge, I respect him. It was his opinion that day. That is the beauty of cattle shows, there will be another show next week and the next. I congratulate those KIDS who did win. I am sure  Mason will get his oppurtunity with Anita (the heifer) soon enough.

VERY WELL SAID.  THANK YOU for showing everyone out there how we are supposed to react to getting left standing.  We may not agree with everything a judge does but they are the ones being paid on that day.

ALMOST ALWAYS I take away something from a judge that talks a calf both their good points and their bad points.  Many times working on the weak issues with grooming, clipping, feeding or by picking the genetics that will mesh with the good in an animal and make better the weak points on that animal.  Thus the true beauty of AI.

Beautiful heifer Eric!  Danielle still thinks you should go to Billy goats!  I think she just lives to pick on you! (thumbsup)

One of the people in the picture was Craig Steck, but I don't know if it was one of his calves or not...
