I know there are a few sp members that sold calves on the MN Beef Expo.

Where you all satisfied and what lots were they.

Although we didn't sell anything at Expo, we had a successful weekend!  Ryan (age 7) stood 5th out of 31 kids in the 1st - 4th grades for showmanship on Friday.  He showed an april heifer that was 2nd in class (behind the res supreme heifer of CLF) out of 9, and his march heifer stood 4th out of 10 I think in a tough class.  Just got some pictures up on our website...check them out!  www.bluffcountrycattle.com

As for the sales, there were some very good cattle that sold...some worth the money and some under.  The angus heifers I thought were really solid and sold well.  Top selling angus was Country Lane with an April Juneau for $4000 I think.  She was res supreme champ that night, and an extra $1000 went to both the consignor and buyers.  Supreme Champ sale heifer was the simmi from our friends at Redalen Cattle Co...she was a dream on X macho if I remember right and brought $8500.  An extra $2000 was awarded to both the buyers and consignors as well!

I think I heard there were about 750 head pre-registered for the weekend, and it was a very successful show and sale weekend.  Things are very well organized and lots of events to keep the kids involved as well.  Great time was had by all!!  ;D

O'Sullivans won the junior show with thier shorty and Katy Braun got reserve with their maine. Redalens and CLF got grand and reserve in the sale show. We sold two steers but i don't remember what their lots were but one was a red steer ( Frankes Y Red ) for 850 and a black steer ( frankes Kaine ) for 1000. Dad was a little disappointed about the red steer because we thought he was worth more than what he got. He stood third in class behind the champion steer in the sale show. we didn't think that steer should have won overall more or less its class.

The crew had a great time at MN Expo!  Started Thursday with all three age teams winning  the judging contest and placing in the knowledge bowl contest.  Continued Friday with Caroline winning the junior showmanship followed by her 7yr old brother in 4th and and Ryan from Bluff Country cattle in fifth.  Mark and I sure were proud dads when our little guys placed that well in the overall for the junior division.

Saturday brought the sale cattle show.  Our Angus sale steer was Ch angus and Res. British Breed sale steer.  The heifer sale seemed to hold in there real good but the steer sale got a little soft as we let the Angus steer go at $750.  I had never sold a breed steer (this was our third breed Ch. sale steer at MBE) under $1750 so we really didn't have a backup plan.

A big congrats goes to our good friends at Redalen Cattle Co. for their big win in the Supreme Sale heifer deal.  Our kids got their start in the Simmental and Charolais breeds with heifers from RCC and they have proven to be great investments that have in turn become GREAT cows after their show career is over and produced the next show string.  You can check them out at  http://www.redalencattlecompany.com/  .  I know they have some great Simmi, Sim-Angus and Charolais heifers available.

The junior show on Sunday also went great for the RTM crew.  Our friend Jorli Hauge won the March Angus heifer class with a RTM calf.  Caroline was second to the eventual GR CH Angus heifer with her B/O Feb. heifer by BC Lookout.  Bodie was second with his March B/O DJ Solution Simmental heifer out of RCC Primrose, his past show heifer purchased from Redalen Cattle CO.  Caroline's B/O Jan Charolais heifer by Lead On won her class and ended up Res Grand Charolais.  This is the third generation of the RCC Star family Caroline has shown and won with.  THANKS Judd and Abbie Redalen for helping our kids get such a GREAT start in their show careers!!

Above and beyond the success in the show ring, the fellowship, fun and development of our kids tops everything!  A big thank you  to the MBE committee for another well organized and successful EXPO!

My daughter was Reserve Champ Maine Anjou prospect steer and stood fifth overall in the 9th grade age showmanship class against some big time showers as she had one of the Webers as well as Patrick O'Sullivan in her class.  It was a great time though and we had a wonderful family in the stalls next to us and we each shared pointers with each other so its great to have people like that!!!
