:-\ ooops.  maybe my brain was tied up with a more important mystery.  atleast i got three (what I feel three very important) cornerstones knocked out of the PHA castle with this last round of testing.  hopefully, this will help us slay the dragon.

wouldn't it be ironic if dl was the spearhead of slaying the pha dragon?

CJB, After I went back and looked at him again, I was thinking Simmental not Angus.  I want to say Irish Black Knight but can't find any pics of him to verify my guess? Am I close?

Sorry Chap, but Irish black Knight is too young to be this guy.  He was born in 1981, and sired one of the breeds most influential sires.

Sorry Farmboy, not 734's daddy, but I would like to see a pic of him if anyone has one.

The bull in the pic is 600u's sire.

a neighbor has several chill factor cows.  as far as i know, has no monkey mouth problems.  he bred a few of them, 5 or 6, back to him last fall.  is that enough cunia for ya.

thanks sru.  my neighbor has had a few cunia's over the years. never bred back to something closely related and had problems either.  i want to include chill factor or cunia in a flush to my super low bw high volume midas cow that i would like to put that cunia shoulder on, get that stifle, and moderate the cunia bw.  i really like cunia's topline shape, flatness and bigness of bone, tall flank.  of the ones i've seen, the scapula just sits nice.  i also like how he is both in front and behind his shoulders and where his head is in realtion to that.

more cunia.

Knabe,

monkey mouth must be one of the defects Tim Ohlde was referring to when I talked to him about the Maine Anjou breed.  He told me that he did line breeding of some Maines when they first imported them and had several defects show up. He said the Maine's immune system was the worst among all the cattle he had worked. He said there was a professor at K State that also used to say the same thing about the Maines immune system.

now that you mention that about immune system, i seem to remember that.  i wonder if that can be attributed to a nutritional factor disguised by more complete mineral products.  I wonder if the same observation could be verified in europe.

noticed this in a catalog about cunia 602

He has a sheath tear and has been unable to breed or collect semen for the last year. We are presently attempting to have that repaired at Kansas State.

Here's one for you. Sorry about the quality. He's a Shorthorn, and was much better as a mature bull than his baby picture shows.

I'm probably waaay off, but my current guess is Ar Su Lu Vann                Okay, if I'm wrong, could you give a hint...like any famous progeny or something haha.  This is going to be tough...alot of those big red bulls don't have alot of baby pics....
