I've got a Simmental heifer that I want to breed back to a Simmental bull, looking for something proven to have low births weights and calving ease.  I know I might be asking for alot but I thought I would give it a shot.

So what do you guys have?

Thanks in advance

Rains Limit Up, is by far the easiest calving Simmental known to man, they come out small and easy and get up and latch onto a teet and don't let go. problem is they don't grow, i mean really won't grow, (unless out of a monster cow.) limit up does make a nice female every now and then, we keep a few units of him around in case we have a young heifer to get bred and she won't be 2 years old when she calves

Springers have a bull by the name of AllStar- pretty good calving ease, i have alot of experience with him, no problems on heifers

what is the breeding on the simmi heifer? does she have some large BW in her back ground??

i never had too much trouble with dream on either with calving problems but thats just me. plus the calves are nice

Built Right is the first one that comes to mind for me.  In fact, there are many Dream On sons that will do the job as well.

I don't have the papers in front of me but I think she has PSR Blk Mercades on the top side.

Definitely can't go wrong with Dream On.

Some other possibilities are In Dew Time, Hook's Shear Force, Trademark, Built Right, or Ranch Hand. I'm sure there are others but those are the popular ones that come to mind.

I used In Dew Time on heifers and all came unassisted except one.

Hook's Shear Force they come small and grow. The ones we have had have more performance than any dream on calves and you can still get that pretty show heifer every once in a while. Never had too many bulls, but they were easy to sell.

Some others to consider are Sands Ranchhand, Olie, Goldmine and In Dew Time. Hard to make a spesific recommendation without knowing the pedigree of your heifer.

This isn't one of my heifer's it belongs to a friend and I was trying to give him some ideas of what to do with her.

Thanks again for the replies, they've been helpful.

Have had great luck with Goldmine for CE and I love my Goldmine females.  Good mothers that milk very, very well.

Goldmine- Will get you a small one that will calve with no problems but they stay small.. Granted I've seen a few that were decent most Goldmine's are tiny and stay that way.
Shear Force-Some really good calves, I wouldd suggest using on cows that have a somewhat good/clean front end.
Dream On-Blah Blah Blah.. Yes he's calving ease, Yes the calves look good but too much of a good thing gets to be a bad thing..Ask Shorthorn people.
Built Right- Make sure they don't have spots in their background or he will throw them. And the heifer needs to be somewhat bigger framed or Built Right will throw a really moderate framed calf.
Olie-Ugh
Ranchhand-Scared of him personally. I've seen and heard of some really messed up calves out of him..Some stillborn & deformed.
In Dew Time- Make sure that heifer is sound of her rear wheels or that's a disaster waiting to happen. Also, the maternal side of In Dew Time has a BUNCH of question marks fertility wise.

A few I like

Mo Better- Small at birth, grow like weeds, flashy enough for the show ring.

Trademark-Will add a goo dbit of guts..I won't say he would improve a front end but I don't think he would make one worse either.

Navigator-When you have a really well put together stout cow that needs style...he'll add it.

Aces of Fortune-If you want to add power, good structure, epds(not what I generally go for but he'll add em) and bone he's the ticket.

Grandmaster-Underused but certainly good. He's just a really good complete bull that throws his calves the same.

Just my 2 cents worth but all of the ones I like I've come to like them through personal experience and most of the ones I don't like I've come not to like the same way, the rest I've seen the pudding and that's where the proof is.

There have been good suggestions given..  of course, I've got to add my 2 cents based on what has worked for our program.  We synch & AI all of our heifers - both commercial & purebred.  We like to use one bull on the commercials for uniformity.  The PBs, we breed a little different.

Limit Up..  We used him on about 60 head of heifers several years ago...  small calves at birth w/ no assists, small calves at weaning, hard doing shallow gutted females that do not have stayability.

Goldmine - We used him last year on the commercials and the calves came small - no assists other than abnormal presentation.  His calves aren't the biggest calves but they sure out performed what the Limit Ups did, the calves are deep bodied and are marketable.  Only wish we could've gotten more females.

In Dew Time - Like Linz says on this bull..  he is what all of our commercial heifers are bred to for this coming spring.  I've seen some flat out good heifers from him.

Full Figures - Thought I'd throw in an oldie..  We used this bull a couple years on commercial heifers a several years ago.  These calves will not be the prettiest kind but they come easy and they grow.  These calves will make you money as feeders.    They will also make good cows.  We have a lot of FF daughters in the herd and from a commercial standpoint, they are our money makers.

Ranch Hand - We had a couple calves out of heifers this fall.  They came small but have really thickened up fast.  But then both of these cows are really thick ex-show heifers.  One calf was kind of crooked legged at birth but has straightened out since then.  Both calves are really clean fronted, up headed, good made calves.

Mo Better - we've had a couple from him and at first I wasn't overly impressed with what we got but have seen enough good/great ones that we flushed to him.  We'll see what that yeilds..

While there are several newer bulls that bear watching, I hesitate to recommend them their accuracy is higher.      JMO.

Really, I plan to use Olie this fall on some heifers.  I have been told that he works well on clean made, angular females.  Have you seen many of his calves or are you basing your comment off of the photo in the ABS catalog? See attached photo of one of Olie's sons that sold 1/2 interest for $50,000 this past spring.  Wondering if I should hold off on this bull.

I do like your recommendation for Trademark. We have used him a bunch.  He seems to add thickness and the calves grow well and have tons of hair.

I wouldn't hesitate to use Olie. I don't think he'll sire show winners, but from what I've been told (by my birdie at the ASA) the only issue with him is that he won't add depth of body. Otherwise he was highly recommended as a sire to use.

I will have to get some pictures of olie calves. They are flat good. We didn't have any problems calving them on heifers but i just dont think he his quite as sure fire as some others. And true he might sire some shallow gutted calves, but he is a legacy so i think that should be expected, but he does a much better job of fleshing them up then his sire IMO.

Shear Force! #1 calving ease Simmi bull. Our Simmi heifers dropped calves quick and man did they grow! I will use him on all heifers

I personally wouldn't use Olie. Most simmy bulls you find will work on clean made females....I guess for me..the only good looking on I have seen out of him would be Upgrade but he himself is unproven and how many progeny does Olie have and how many have been promoted or really noticed? Upgrade? I'm not saying there isn't a place for him and that some might have good calves out of him. I just personally think there are other bulls with better pedigrees that do what he does..better.
