Becton Lancer 442 is an ABS bull that I like. I am not a Red Angus breeder but I am an admirer of Red Angus. I am told that Lancer 442 was a low milk(low input enviroment), easy keeping, thick moderate bull with super carcass traits. Both marbling and rea. I have had a couple of people (Lorna and Larry) tell me no marble bone problems have been reported out of him though he does go back to Stormalong.

I noticed several on the list are/were cows (some are deceased). Of the bulls on your list I personally like Glacier Logan 210 - he is a cow maker, JR 107 - calving ease/maternal, Ankonian superstar - saw several of his calves years ago, not too sure about calving ease though. HLH Buster - bred by Lamoine Hall, calving ease bull. Alot of the animals on your list are relatively "old" pedigree animals, just curious how you arrived at these? Don't overlook the Von Forell herd from Wyo or some of the Canadian stock either. RW

I haven't seen much of Ron for a few years - didn't know if he was still in the business or not. I believe that Steve (Blue Ridge) bought most of those genetics through the Congerville, IL sale over the last several years. Incidentally that sale is this coming week end. RW

Sorry to Hijack the thread, but does anyone else really really like the Congerville sale barn? I'm not sure why, but I really like that one!

It kind of sits out in the middle of nowhere doesn't it. Not exactly what I would call typical cow country. But for the most part the Red sales I have been to there have gotten along pretty good. RW

Yeah, it's in a weird place for such big sales, that's for sure. I was at a Red Angus sale there a couple years ago, I wonder if you were there too, probably not. It was just the state sale.

I may have been there, I've missed a few over the years. The Red sale there is always a consignment sale sponsored by the IL assn. RW

I'm not a real fan of that sale barn.  It has a good enough facility but the lighting is terrible.  I go to about 5 or 6 angus sales there and I have the hardest time just viewing the cattle.  There are pens outside and if you can get those you're in good shape!
