You might do a search on the several threads that have discussed tranquilizers.  There are ethical as well as legal issues that arise by their use.  Everybody has different opinions on it and most of them are strong one way or the other.  Many of the advocates for use have used them off-label, which can get you into trouble and as stated above, most of these substances will be picked up in a test.  Most of use understand your dilemma and can appreciate where you are with this calf and kid.  There are many posts on here about these issues.  Good luck.

Yeah, this is one of those can of worms subjects.  But, it is always good to talk about it.  I would see if I couldn't work out that "edge".

Also a lot of it has to do with your son's confidence.  If you can teach him to be assertive and how to handle a steer when they start to act up, that will also help to a point.

Does melatonin work better than ace? I have a chi heifer that has a bad attitude tried ace and doesn't work. She is halter broke and worked with all the time. If melatonin works then whats the dosage and can you really get it from walmart?
