Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can find sale results from the March 17th OH Beef Expo Shorthorn sale? Appreciate it!
HOLY CRAP!!trevorgreycattleco said:A one nutted bull sold for $4300.00. Even announced it when he was in the ring. I have seen it all now. I wonder how many other breeds had a good time chatting about that? No offense to anyone, those that sold and those that bought but my goodness. Get a sharp knife and count to two.
Did the ones with two bring $8600!aandtcattle said:HOLY CRAP!!trevorgreycattleco said:A one nutted bull sold for $4300.00. Even announced it when he was in the ring. I have seen it all now. Like a defect having only one nut or you mean he was banded and only got 1 of em, so they decided to sell it as a bull? Anyhow- how embarrassing...for the seller and buyer.trevorgreycattleco said:A one nutted bull sold for $4300.00. Even announced it when he was in the ring. I have seen it all now. Okay, standing from the rear he had the left one.justintime said:which testicle was it? Was it the one that gives the X chromosome to the calves or the one that gives the Y chromosome? Maybe that is why he sold so good, as maybe he will sire all heifers! haha.
I have seen some bulls that lost a testicle by injury that were good breeding bulls for many years. I remember one excellent bull that produced semen for many years at stud with only 1 testicle. Here in Canada, it would be virtually impossible to sell a bull with one testicle in an auction, because no vet would ever pass him for breeding soundness. You may be able to sell him privately if he was good enough.

I attended but did not record a single price. Great crowd !

It very well could have been there, but he was still a cryptorchid! A very heritable trait.
Anyhow, I believe the ASA was against the bull being in the sale but somehow he still sold.
I would say that unless the consignment letter said "we reserve the right to sift at the sale", then they had no legal right to kick him out. It should have been up to the breeder not to bring him.
How many shorthorn folks there walked the angus aisles?
How many Angus breeders walked the Shorty aisles? I mean if I'm not into Angus pedigrees & Angus cattle & don't plan on using Angus cattle , then why should I? I don't think that makes anyone less of a cattleperson. I geuss if I'm trying to sell a bunch of bulls maybe, just so you know what your competition is ?
I didnt write any prices down. The Gottshalk bull was pretty cool, moderate little chunk. Cool colored. JTM's heifer sold pretty good. She looked good in person. His whole bunch did.

When he went into the ring I was in the back and I thought this dude wont bring a grand. Ahh what the hell do I know.....bada bing bada boom.....4300 hundo. Unbelievable. Not ten steps to the right of this bulls pen was lots of angus bulls that blew him out of the water. The angus bulls there were head and shoulders above the shorties. Sorry. Just my opinion. There was a Limestone Great Divide son there that I loved. He was bad to the bone. Anyhow, I believe the ASA was against the bull being in the sale but somehow he still sold. I dont care how good a bull is. My God doesnt common sense just scream "Hey man, I got one nut down here, Im a steer!"
