Hey guys! I figured I should make a new topic for my personal heifer for next year. Once again, Purebred Limo. She's a May/15 and was shown by my younger sister this year and showed out well. Id just like to get everyone's opinion on her and maybe a suggested feeding schedule? I don't want to feed her up so much that it could ruin her as a production cow.

That is a nice purebred Limousin heifer.
She appears to be growthy, heavy boned,
and nicely muscled.

I would make sure she is developed on a high
roughage ration without a lot of grain.(maybe8-10 pounds
per day)

She won't get real fat like show heifers
often are and will will grow into a real
cow prospect.

Good luck

I think she is a really nice limmy heifer.  She shows her breed character, but tones it down with some neck extension and being pretty clean up front.

As a Limo breeder myself, there's a lot to like about your little heifer.  Hard to say too much right now about a May heifer but she looks to have some potential for sure.    Some good advice already about feeding.  8-10lbs to start of some type of Oats based ration would be good.  You could probably add some corn as she gets older and grows out a little bit.  In my experience feeding limos for shows, they rarely get over fat unless you feed them for that purpose.  They put on lean meat like they are bred to do.  She'll make you a fine cow.

LOVE that rear shot. What is her pedigree? She is quite green now. It will be a while before you need to worry about getting her too fleshy, but I appreciate that you want to be careful with her condition. I would feed about 2% of her body weight as a grain ration, maybe 25%oats/75%corn with a protein supplement to get at least 15% protein. Give her all the grass hay she wants. As you get to 60 days from showing, start adding beet pulp to the ration to get more fill on her. As far as condition, get some fat cover over all the ribs, then you can start backing her off feed. Watch the udder. She should be able to carry a little fill in her brisket without impacting her future production. Hope she does well for you. I'd like to see updates as she develops.
