ABS Australian Red Angus bull. I've seen some video footage where he looked a tick high headed. He ranked no 1 for docility in Australia though. Anyone have calves by him. What is his frame. bla bla bla

In theory.....he might be. He's been tested clean of the following. amf caf ddf maf nhf and ......osf.

knabe...if he was dsc.......would it be a new mutation or something going way way back to when the breeds were formed.

What would it hurt to do a 15$ ds test on this bull? It would be better than spending 15 years of using him in a program and then test him. Or does the ds test work on Red Angus?

He might be absurd. I find these discussions both educational and extremely funny. I would prefer to buy a bull that's been tested and found to be free of defects. I would prefer to sell breeding stock that has been tested free. My family has always been commercial producers and I am new to testing for these issues. We have simxangus in all seriousness should I be testing. Is there a box you can check that says you want them to test for every possible defect. Maybe we could head off some new horrible defect like fubare'd

By the time there's a test, it's really too late to head something off.

There are defects in every breed of cattle. The tighter the gene pool, the quicker they show up.

I'm not saying do not test. I'm saying it's ridiculous to demand things of other breeders that you don't do yourself.

I saw several Iron Ore calves while doing a selection tour for the NILE sale a couple of years ago. They were still babies when I saw them but from the looks of them as a group I would say that they don't have the power that many of the Red Angus bulls we have available to us today have. They would typically remind you of calves out of a bull that was calving ease/maternal. RW

Could he be easy keeping and a grass fed deal though.
