I have a question about pasture. Past couple years I've had my cows out on grass pasture pretty much all summer. Growth was about 99.5% grass- nothing specific planted just whatever came up Quackgrass, Junegrass and maybe some Brome that was there from previous owner. Now I see this year that there's some Red Clover coming as well. Not sure where it came from but it's there. It's not alot but a few small concentrated clumps in each pasture. (BTW pasture sizes are .5 acre at most). Will I have to worry about bloat? My plan is to let the Red Clover gorw up some so it's not so lush to try and avoid bloat but what about when regrowth happens?
Thanks.

I highly doubt you'll have a problem with it.  Most bloat problems occur when there is no transition phase from low moisture roughage right to lush clover/wheat/rye types.  If your other grass is already "lush", and you haven't already had bloat problems, I'd think your still good to go.  If your too worried about it get them a bloat block/ and a high mag mineral.

XBAR is correct. You won't see any problems. Our pastures are about 30% white clover and we have never had one die from bloat. It's more about not letting them out on it when they are hungry and haven't been eating it, just like XBAR said. You may have problems with the calves if they get a taste for the clover and that is all that they eat. You should be perfectly fine and the clover will be good for them if it is Red clover.
