Here are just a few photos I've been able to catch so far:

RWC_024.jpg

Left:  A 3/4 blood Charolais heifer sired by George out of a halfblood Troy cow.
Right:  A bull calf out of a Hannibal son and a Troy cow (the cow in my Avatar)

RWC_057.jpg

He had enough of this.......

RWC_065.jpg

He didn't slow down till he found momma.

RWC_069.jpg

A better picture of him.  This is gonna be a good steer.

RWC_061.jpg

A George bull calf out of my son's first show heifer (a Playmate).

RWC_026.jpg

A Punisher bull calf with momma.  This is one stout little dude.  He looks like me might not get very big, but he's about as big around as he is tall.

RWC_030.jpg

RWC_031.jpg

An About Time bull calf out of a Cunia grandaughter.  This is the first calf that jumps out at you when you come in the pasture.  He is super thick.

RWC_033.jpg

A Sunseeker bull calf.  I think he'll run Simi down here.

RWC_051.jpg

Rocky Balboa bull calf out of a Kadabra momma.  This is her second calf.

Nice calves, how was the BW on the Sun Seeker calf? Lost two(2) bull calves and one Meyer momma with huge calves.....big boned, massive, not over fed, just pastured with hill country grass. Our Punisher steer  calf last year did not get very big, but was very thick. He is doing very well in his young show career.

We have 6 Sunseeker calves and none of them had caused calving trouble.  We don't weigh anything so I couldn't tell you anything there - but they look what I'd consider "normal" for club calves out of our cows.

On the Punisher calf, he probably has a little sheath but a lot of it is hair also.  I don't think it'll be adverse for him when he gets clipped up.  But, I generally prefer them with no sheath at all.

We've got a bunch more calves I just haven't gotten to for photos we've been so busy and its been so wet (yeeehaaa!).  We've got some more good Sunseekers, About Times, and Eyes on the Money calves.

We keep our cows fastened up in smaller pastures for calving (this one's about 200 acres).  There have been about 50 some odd cows in it since late July and they've got it grazed down pretty good.  We're fixing to rotate this herd to another pasture where the grass is so tall it'll be hard to see the calves.

We've got some calves out of first calf heifers that are going to make show steers also.  We've got some Northern Improvement calves out of Bold Statement and Golden Child mommas that look real nice.  Haven't got photos of them yet.

Nice set of calves. I did not even read the pedigree of the last and knew that he had Habanero or Kadabra in him. Love that curl. Frostie

Very nice set of calves , love that George calf , she s one good lookin heifer, an kinda sounds like the Chars are coming back fast , the Angus people kicked the door down an gonna take 'm a while to fix it ,  Some one commented about your calving pasture, some of the rancher's up here use one to 2 sections,  Don't look like it's to rough an that really helps ..............

Regarding pasture size, it's all relative so to speak.  We follow a pretty rigid rotational grazing program and have most of our land broken up in 160-300 acre parcels.  We stock one cow to around 10-15 acres.  The point I was trying to get at is we've had this particular set of 53 cows in a 200 acre pasture for a quite a while resulting in the short grass visible in the photos.

We're not a "big" operator in our area.  There are more than a few ranches that run 10,000 acres+.  A lot of ranchers in our country don't bother to rotate and just have giant pastures.

Freddy - I like the George calves.  Kris Black's upcoming sale has some super looking George-sired bulls for sale.  That George heifer I have pictured is out of a half-blood Charolais cow sired by a bull named "Troy" that was owned by a guy named Dan Leddy down here.  I think "Troy" real names was Thomas Reflector or something like that.  Troy steers did quite a bit of winning for a while down here just a few years ago and his females are good.  This particular cow of ours has literally produced our heaviest weaning calf each of the past three year.  Her calf last year was sired by Salute and she weaned him off at just over 900 lbs.  Her calves tend to not be pretty enough for show steers (her second calf out of one of our herd bulls did make the sale at Houston a few years ago), but this heifer calf of hers will go straight back into our herd.  We've got another good George heifer in another pasture.
