I was going through some picture files tonight and I came across a picture I snapped last summer of Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M on pasture as an 8 year old. About a week after this picture was taken, I found him in the pasture with his switch and about 3-4 inches of the end of his tail pulled off. He must have had his tail stepped on when he was laying down and he stood up. When I found him, it was still bleeding bad and he had 3 or 4 lengths of bone sticking out the end of his tail. I have heard of many animals with similar injuries that have died due to infection so ||I was pretty concerned. It must have really hurt as he lost a pile of weight but I left him on pasture( as all the pens were mud and water at home) and I sprayed it twice a day with wound treatment and disenfectant. It eventually healed and he now has a stump tail, but I am hoping he will last for a few years yet. He has been in stud for a couple months and we should have semen ready to be shipped to the US in the next week.
