For all of you photographers out there if we would use round straw bales net wrapped for our background would that look ok.  All input appreciated.

Personally, I wouldn't particularly like it. The best background in my opinion is a natural looking background that can virtually disappear, lending focus on the subject. Solid backgrounds like a wall of anything tend to make cattle look smaller, besides the fact that they're just not attractive. The best that can look is if the animal is not standing close to it...distance helps any background disappear. Look thru any breed publication at sale ads & pay attention to the backgrounds...then compare the ads with photos shot in front of a solid wall to photos with a distant, picturesque back drop. I think you'll see my point.

I agree with leanbeef that an open background is best...however, in many of our situations, that isn't possible.  I've seen some nice catalog pictures with round bales as the background.

Do the best you can.
