one of those days!
« on: November 01, 2008, 09:30:40 AM »
Well, yesterday was beautiful here. I wanted to go outside & just feel the sun. My day started up by logging in on the internet. I went on SP & put down my time to spend as unlimited. All at once the internet signal went out. I called company but just got recording.
I decided that w/ no SP I'd get some things done. did some laundry & made chicken noodle soup.
Then I went out to see the calves still left & the kitten that has been banned to the barn.
On my way back to the house, the legs gave out & I landed hard on my elbow. Got up w/ some difficulty & went in. My elbow was swelling & not sure if I broke anything. Luckily sister-in-law home so she took me to the ER. By this time elbow was huge & blood red. X rays showed no broken bones but dr didn't like the discoloration. Have it in a sling & motrin & pain pills. Am to go to an orthopedic person Monday. Swelling is down but the discoloration is really weird. It's a dark brown & is covering 1/2 my lower arm besides the elbow.
Hubby did not find this amusing.

Oh shoot.  I hate it when those days happen.   I hope nothing is seriously wrong with your elbow.

arm is darker & redder but you can get the general idea.

Another good thing! I'm left handed & it's my right arm!

Sounds/looks like you broke a blood vessel when you landed on it.  I've done that on one of my knees.  So, sounding like your mother, didn't you have your walker with you?

Argh! I was planning on church today. Took another tumble & must have used bad arm to break fall.
Has anyone been on a medicince that causes loss of balance? Hubby is sure it's the Lamictal but doctor says no.
Trouble is this might keep me from NAILE visit.

I just checked on that medicine and this is what I found.  Looks like it causes dizziness, coordination problems, blurred vision among other things. I always hate it when Drs. say drugs should not affect certain things.

In these studies, the most common Lamictal side effects included:

Dizziness -- in up to 54 percent of people
Double vision -- up to 49 percent
Headaches -- up to 29 percent
Coordination problems -- up to 28 percent
Blurred vision -- up to 25 percent
Nausea -- up to 25 percent
Vomiting -- up to 20 percent.

Yeah I hate that too.  They said I wouldn't feel any different on blood thinners.

Right, except any change in temperature either causes me to get really cold, or sweat like crazy....or both.

thanks CJ! I finally got a doctor to listen to me today. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist on Thursday. When I was having seizure problems several years ago the doctor had me on so much medicine that it was actually increasing my seizures. The doctor today was wondering if i was actually having drop seizures instead of actually falling.

Justin- I know what you mean. I've had doctors tell me that can't be a side effect only to go home & read that it is a side effect.
