Thank you Spencer! He's growing really well, and is only about 2 weeks old in that picture (taken Saturday). He was born unassisted, about 75lbs. He hasn't been exposed to people very much, but once we start to treat him he should come around rather quickly.

Well, we are on our way back from NAILE and I figured I should post a follow-up picture of the bull calf I posted earlier on this thread.

Like everyone else, trying to plan next year's breedings.  The first is the Monopoly out of our Blue Thriller x Brutus/Vegas.  Second is a Maternal Perfection out of a Who Da Man x Kadabra.  The MAB we posted sold a few months ago, Blue steer is also sold.  The Maternal Perfection is staying, would be too hard to replace, love everything about her, she is a lot thicker than I thought she would be.

Went with some favourites from the past when AI'ing this spring. We are expecting calves from Highfield Irish Mist, Poplar Park Mist 4R and JT Titan 3T. This represents the use of a son (Titan), sire (4R) and grandsire (Irish Mist; pedigree at http://www.poplarparkfarm.com/titan3t.html).

We are also excited for embryos from JT Goldie 3P X  Highfield Irish Mist and Saskvalley Myrtle 83N X Saskvalley Ramrod 155R matings. Spring can't come fast enough!

We will have an interesting set of calves starting in January this year. I'm looking forward to our first Kamilaroi Meat Packer and Sprys On Target calves. Both these bulls are Aussie bulls that we bought into. We also bred about 40 to HC Free Spirit 6Y ET ( shown in my avatar) as his first complete calf crop is very good. There will also be quite a few by HC Bluebook 22B ET who is one of the best we ever produced. There will also be 28-30 ET calves from several sires and our best donors. There will also be calves from some other bulls like Muridale Buster 14K, Ready Go, HC Mist's Return, DF Waco 6W ET and HC FL Touchdown 123T.  Looking forward to a great calf crop. Hopefully we can get some rain to have lots of grass to develop them on.

I am very excited about next year, and our future in the Shorthorn business.

I have manage to convince my husband that cattle are an investment and have purchased some additions to my (I mean our) program first being two embryos (one of which took) from justintime sired by The Grove Kookaburra W735 and out of Pakaraka Legend's Rose A005.  Even more exciting I also managed to get an outstanding rising three year old female by Paintearth Rama 53U from "hilltop"on steerplanet AI'ed to Saskvalley Ultra 12J.

Other exciting matings I am having involve flushing my two most prolific females Diamond Whitney Maid 14W (rising 8) to The Grove Kookaburra W735 resulting in eight embryos two of which I implanted fresh resulting in two pregnancies.  The other female being Diamond Minnie Searle 11S (rising 10) to Balmoral Oak's Eagle 9X resulting in ten embryos two of which I implanted fresh also resulting in pregnancies.  Diamond Minnie Searle 11S is also confirmed in calf AI to Diamond Belvedere 29B.

I have seven calves coming from ET and AI work which is a first for me.

My natural mating's include
2- Herbourne B Manitoba Gus 13Z
4- Diamond Lord Belmore 56B
6- Diamond Braveheart 21B (pictured at just over 12 months)

I like the look of the B. Oak's Eagle bull, he has a great hindquarter and an exceptional masculine wedge shape to him. He should breed great females!

I'm hoping for a heifer from mating this Shorthorn bull to this Galloway cow.
This year I got a bull calf from this same mating that, so far, is extra long, extra deep and extra fluid.
(yes, I know heterosis does that... Why not utilize it?)

The red steer is a BIM X JPJ that was reserve shorthorn plus last weekend at Lima Ohio.

The black heifer is a Rodger That X Sooner/Lifeline that found her way into a replacement pen after having a little extra shot of crazy.
